India is largest in shrimp exporting countries in the world
followed by Ecuador and Vietnam. Shrimp
Exports from India stood at USD 3533 million during 2017 till September. The
country recorded highest Shrimp export sales in in July and least export sales
by this product in the month of February. However, India did least shrimp
exports in the first quarter of 2017 and it is highest in the third quarter of
year 2017.
India is one of the largest seafood suppliers in the world.
Shrimp is the main seafood that India exports majorly across the world. Shrimp,
Prawn, Scampi are the species under Shrimp category that India exports to its
partner countries.
Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and
Maharashtra are the biggest Indian states which are exporting shrimp and
playing an important role in the economy of country. India exports shrimp
mainly to USA, Vietnam, Japan, UK and UAE. The country is exporting this
product through its various land, sea, air ports such as Vizag Sea, Krishnapatnam
Port Sea, Kolkata Sea, Cochin Sea and JNPT. India departs 31% of shrimp
shipments from Vizag Sea only.
